Glossop Amalgamated Angling Society

Was created in the sixties by a few small angling clubs, local to the Glossop area, to protect them from other bigger clubs with more money and more clout. It was feared, at that time, that clubs outside the area would come in and take over the small but well stocked ponds in and around Glossop, and so G.A.A.S. was formed.
In the early days of G.A.A.S., membership was very tightly controlled, if you didn't live in the Glossop area you would not qualify for membership, simple as that. Members were also kept on a tight rein, any infringement of the rules would result in the member being summoned before the committee to explain, and or defend themselves, with expulsion from the club a real possibility. Things have changed somewhat since those days, some would say for the worse. Here we are today trying to keep up with the modern age. Some of our ponds have been lost over the years and others gained, we now have 8 ponds at our disposal and are keen to aquire more to add to them. On this web site you will find future working party and match dates. We also intend bringing you match results and an update of work carried out at working parties.

Guest Tickets

Non members are permitted to fish Glossop Anglers waters  provided they are accompanied by a full member. Guest tickets are available from Arundel Aquatics at £3 per day. Tickets must be purchased by the member on production of his membership card.
